Targeting inefficiency

Post by chrisgud »

This thing has been slightly bothering me for a long time. It's especially obvious when you want to clear a system of space creatures and there's a bunch of them, what you would expect to happen is that the fleet should attack the closest hostile and when it's dead it should attack the nearest one. But usually that's not how it goes, instead it'll pick one that's really far away, typically on the other side of the star or whatever, kill that then pick another at random, often jumping back and forth needlessly and wasting a ton of fuel. It's not a huge deal, but it would be nice if this got sorted at some point.

I have noticed that also. It would be a nice correction to the program.

Plus fighters from fleets often attack one space creature while the ships concentrate on different target. I am not sure if that is by design or a "bug".
