How can Russia have over 250 diplomacy chits?

Post by Tigertony »

Just surrendered a game (as Central Powers) in August 1917 and while reviewing the stats, I noticed that Russia had 215 influence chits remaining, plus 11 invested in the Netherlands, 11 in Norway, 12 in Romania and 12 in Sweden (so 261 in total). How can this be?

Russia had also produced more MPPs over the course of the game than any other nation, despite having lost most of its territory up to Minsk (partly offset by gains in Turkey) and was getting over 800 per turn. (The UK was getting up to that but had taken plenty of territory).

In short, was my opponent exploiting a Russian bug or is there something I have missed?

Given that Russia (like the UK, France and Germany) only gets 5 diplomacy chits to use at the same time, there is something very odd about the figures you are quoting. What are you looking at to arrive at these numbers?

I presume that this was playing an official campaign and not one that someone sent you?

If it was an official campaign then please can you provide the challenge id so that we can take a look at it?

Thanks

I'm looking at the end-of-game situation. Everything looks normal except for Russia. It is a campaign that I opened (as CP) for anybody to join (as Entente). ID 407996. I have a few screen shots (if that helps) taken showing some stats and final positions before closing the game.

For the influence chits remaining, this doesn't look to be anything nefarious, but rather a coding error that I've marked and will fix for the next patch.

It's an error when chits were being subtracted that had the total jump to around 255, unfortunately.

It also looks like the high Russian MPP collection is likely ok, e.g. Level 5 Industrial Technology and they hadn't really been pushed back that far by the Central Powers.

Thanks for taking the time to investigate and giving the feedback.

I like playing CP as it is much more of a challenge than Entente, but I'm surprised Russia can get to 800 MPPs (despite losing Poland). It looks like my opponent has found a formula to ensure that CP will almost never win. I shall have to try it as Entente. If true, it's going to be a serious buzz kill.

Hello, Stumbled across this.
I studied the 1914 cmapaign and read the manual (really lol xD).

To give a chit towards Industry.
Every nation has an industrial modifier.
EG if a nation has 100% modifier it gets 100% of the MPP it should actually collect from the ressources it occupies. (minors i believe are unaffected).

Industrial tech does give 15% additionally each tech.
So in theory one could expect a 15% increase and in total 75% increase.

That is not the case.

Russia starts with a 25% modifier. It gets 15% and jumps to 40%. From 25% to 40%, that is in relative terms a 60% (SIXTY) percent increase.
If russia manages to get quick industrial tech it becomes a lategame powerhouse and in my games i have even had sometimes with convoys even more than 1200 MPP per turn.

So industrial tech is something that just from campaign country unique modifiers and the property of amount of cities etc is of very different value to each country.

i regulary document my games aswell, here if curious the graphs of MPP losses and investments highlighting the exchanges and trends during our campaign.

Edit: The campaign was quasi decided a couple turns before the end, but when the entente collect 82kMPPs and the centrals 42k MPPs... germany is on a timer, if it allows the majors to develop it was practically here like in real life, 3 powers the size of germany against germany plus less significant nations (AH+OT)

Also i sometime encountered a couple of bugs (probably) over the years, and saw some, well weird stuff, especially when it comes to rng, but i dont really report anything and dont know how to report stuff aside from sending in the ID which i would believe to be tedious to go through save files and codes.

BTW, i did not find an explanation yet, how is weather determined? With what frequency does it appear, what is the weight of the different weather types (which i assume are attributed to certain regions and seasons)?
Sometimes mud/rain really really screwed up my offensiv pushes during schliefenplan and i noticed really alot of variation (bad luck).
Same with storms and naval engagements (soemtimes 3 storms after each other in north sea, sometimes no storms for 10 turns).

Hi

If you open up the relevant campaign in the Editor then go to Campaign -> Edit Weather Data

You'll see the map is divided up into numerous zones, with the % chances of different weather, by season or part season, set on the left hand side of the screen.

If you want to see the actual areas covered by each zone, click OK to leave the Weather Data screen and return to the map.

Then select the yellow lightning symbol in the second row at the top, it's just to the right of centre.

Thank you, i knew the zones but so far had just not found the window in which values were listed what the different zones actually entail.
