The struggle for the survivability of ships at sea.

Post by Rubanartem87 »

Is it possible to repair ships at sea when they are damaged by bombs and missiles? In fact, ship personnel are always trained to fight for the survivability of the ship during a fire or flood. After going through several missions, unfortunately, after a small flood or fire, the ships simply sink, while the ability to help neighboring fleets or patch up holes on their own should be realized.

Ship crews do perform damage control, automatically without any guidance from the player. Their effectiveness will depend on the damage dealt on the ship (e.g. a raging fire is harder to contain than a minor one) and on the crew proficiency. Specifically for flood damage, sea state is also taken into account (it's more likely to sink/capsize in heavy sea state).

Ships assisting other ships on their damage control (e.g. fire-fighting) is not modelled ATM.

Thank you for the alignment Dimitris! In my opinion, this mechanic does not always work. Since in one of the missions from the tutorial, a Destroyer with a regular crew experience level was easily hit. And so it turned out that from 1.2% the whole thing turned into 100% damage, while there was no fire. The destroyer was part of an aircraft carrier group, which means that neighboring ships will always come to the aid of those in distress. And this implies that the ships from your group can land additional personnel to extinguish the fire, or take measures to evacuate the crew, weapons and equipment (amphibians, etc., if possible).

I would like to see a save of that situation if possible, when damage was still light.

Unfortunately, I removed it after completing the mission, where it is necessary to bring two aircraft carrier groups to the Canary Islands for Spain. But next time I will share it with you.)
