How can I delete an equipment from a unit OOB?

Post by RFalvo69 »

Noob question here, but I'm fixing some scenarios involving the Italians according to Italian sources.

I started with the Greece campaign 1940, as there is (obviously) a lot of material on the OOBs, deployments, proficiency and what not. For example, NO Italian formation had tanks: the 170 available were all concentrated on the "Centauro" tank division.

So, I'm deleting the tanks assigned to infantry divisions in a scenario. The problem is that if I put "0" as the number of tanks, I still get, for example, 0/5 - i.e. 5 are still alloted when time comes. How can I fully delete the equipment from the unit's roster?

I guess that somewhere in the manual there is the answer - but we must give to the forum a reason to exist, don't we? ;)

A side note: every scenario I examinmed involving the Italians in WWII is in need of a rework. The average proficiency of the Italian Army was usually low, but some units (the Alpine troops, just sayn') were up with the best units in the whole WWII. Same for other units. Anyway, I found a new way to stay busy at the PC away from Der Gattin sight... :)

I think your best bet is to use the tool Tom created and export out the scenario as a xml file and fix it up that way.

Been a few years but I am pretty sure that is how I corrected a few scenarios when I started nuking values that show up in the game editor but you have to manipulate the data file and reimport it.

Another way is to edit the scenario in the editor. Load the scenario. Go to Edit/Forces. Click on the unit you want to edit. Click on the display weapons button third from left on the right panel. Go to the equipment you want to edit. Click on it. Gives you a little window where you enter the amount. Just backspace over whats there and hit enter. It's gone from the unit. No more different than putting equipment in a unit except now you eliminate it.

If duct tape doesn't fix it then you are not using enough duct tape.

Bruh, what you do is go into the list of all the equipment on the right side of the forces editor, scroll down to where the equipment is, and then set it to zero from there. IDK why people are suggesting an editor or linking some place else, this is basic TOAW IV.

Open the Scenario in the Editor, select the unit, hit 'U', zero out the equipment.

Note: When you hit 'U', you are in an area that was never finished, so not all functions work correctly. But for removing equipment, this is currently the easiest way. In my opinion.
