Command Open ATO Open Beta v1.05.1328.4 - STEAM ONLY

Post by SamSlitherine »

Hi Everyone,

The latest Command Beta is available on the Open Beta branch. It is available on Steam only currently, via the open beta branch. Please use the following Guide as reference if you need assistance in accessing the beta branch on Steam.

The changelog can be seen below:

Build 1328.4 Release Notes (changes from B1328.3):

-------------------------------------------------------

• ADDED: On the "Scenario Migration" window, you can now customize the default WRA-range for AAW missiles when migrating a scenario

* TWEAK: [DX11 Renderer] Numerous tweaks on map engine to address reported memory leaks and "super-lag when selecting unit" issue.
* TWEAK: Change in HGV glide logic: Approach the target at high altitude (80% of pull-up altitude) and then terminal-dive into it. This more closely matches public-domain info about the preferred trajectory of HGVs (makes them a much harder target for AAMs/SAMs except in the terminal dive).
* TWEAK: UAV/CUAV launcher (fixes issue where UAVs could not take off from small ships)
* TWEAK: Restored TO/LA checkbox on "Edit AC" window
* TWEAK: Align "Edit AC" and "Edit boats" windows visually

* FIXED: CEZ transparency was not set rendered correctly. Transparency value was not set if changed via text and not via up-down arrows
* FIXED: #15172: [ATO + B1307.X] SBR Generate Delta Template Errors
* FIXED: Crash on scenario reload
* FIXED: [Lua] ScenEdit_AddZone couldn't add CEZ without defined nature side
* FIXED: Repeated exception during map rendering when unit icon cannot be found
* FIXED: CEZ-defined custom elevation where not considered when retrieving terrain elevation of a coordinate
* FIXED: Add sub unit a 0 kts (not creep speed)
* FIXED: Clicking on "sensor" hyperlink in contact recent detections list does not bring up the DB-viewer as expected if the sensor is in a loadout
* FIXED: Logic flaw in Priority Target List doctrine evaluation may lead to infinite loop (ie. sim freeze)
* FIXED: Weapon "Max Downrange" calculation returning infinity if MaxAltitude_AGL = 0 and MinAltitude_AGL = 0

Will this update ultimately be available to non-Steam users, or do I need to switch to Steam to stay current?

Ultimately yes, when the ATO (ie. 64x + DX11) branch becomes the official release.

So, any idea of how much longer it may be? :D

It seems that Matrix buyers' money is worth less than Steam buyers' money.

And no, switching to Steam for free is not my solution.

Actually you don't have to move to steam, just copied the downloaded game from steam to the local non-steam installation folder, coopy all scenarios over and good to go. Recent builds seems not having the force_steam file in the root folder, if it exists, delete it.

DO BACKUP FIRST!

I don't know why it's on steam, though. It's not good for rolling back to previous builds once a deal breaker is discovered. I have a bunch of backups of updates from this branch because of that.

Thats why its a beta. If the potential for "game-breaking" bugs weighs heavily, you should just stay on 1307 track for now.

I can assure you that no such bias/favoritism exists. This is only a matter of making the public beta-testing process as simple/reliable/foolproof as possible.

I think running the beta through Steam is the best choice for the devs. When they tried running long-term betas in the forum, they got heavy push back from a few users who couldn't handle keeping track of versions and were confused. The devs and others in the community spent significant time sorting out issues those people were having. Steam gives a very clean and organized way to run a beta. When you buy the game, there is no clause that says they have run betas.

When I switched to 1328.4 I found all DLC unlocked, including stuff I didn't buy. I found the correct DLCs locked on 1307.18. #makingmyselfpopular

The free Steam key Slitherine offers Matrix owners means they get access to everything a Steam owner receives, plus the option of an alternative DRM, so if anything wouldn't that mean Matrix owners money is worth more? Maybe I'm just envious because I would have bought through Matrix had I known about the free Steam key before I purchased.

It appears that the beta on Steam is done. Or at least they closed the access.
