There isn't really one. Jamming power goes as 1/R^2. Radar power goes as 1/R^4. The rest depends on the situation. The distance from the jamming target to the jammer is one piece of the puzzle. The distance from the jamming target to the protected entity is another piece. The RCS of the protected entity is a factor, because you can probably be as effective further out for a lower RCS than for a higher RCS. The environmental noise and clutter levels are a factor.

The best way to figure it out, is make test scenarios, and play around with scenarios. Change different variables to see what matters.

I did a test to check why in the 0-100 nmi range the jamming was less effective than in the 100-400 nmi. There is much more variance when the jammer is close to the radar than when it is far away, which means that on average the detection when it is close to the radar is higher. Not know why and if it happens with all jam/radar combinations.

My hypothesis is that at that range the bearing of the jammer affects detection more and that at larger ranges the bearing becomes less important.

P.S: With these radars, the growler and the J-16 show a similar performance.

It could be related to the burn-through range where the power of the radar is stronger than that of the jammer.

You will have to know the power of both the jammer and the radar to calculate this distance.

Because we do not know this data CMO has to program a best guess, I think this could explain the inner detection change.

But in this case the aircraft for which the detection is calculated is not the jammer but an F-16A. The jammer acts as a stand-off jamming (an this is the distance in the X-axis)

That is the same, the return signal of the F-16 is stronger than than the (stand-off) jamming signal

This is very cool. You should play around using different protected assets with different RCSes, not just the F-16A. That'll be interesting, I think.
