Campaign Series: Middle East 2.30

Post by berto »

The Campaign Series: Middle East v2.30 "update" has been announced here:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 8&t=396421

What people may not realize:
  • This is the first "update" to CSME in over five years.
  • This is not merely an "update". It is a remastered full game install. Please bear this in mind.
  • The changes list only begins to account for the many, many new features, improvements, and bug fixes over the past five years. There are far, far more changes from CSME 2.01 (the previous public release) to CSME 2.30 than there were from CSME 1.00 to CSME 2.00.
  • Our intention is to keep all CS games in sync, version wise. So CSME 2.30 is released soon after CSVN (Vietnam) 1.30. If there is a CSVN 1.31 bug-fix release (there will be), there will be a companion CSME 2.31 bug-fix release also. No Game Left Behind.
  • Why CSME 2.30 and not 3.00? It is because the 2.30 scenarios are not yet AI scripted (unlike CSVN). This is in our future plans.
  • In addition to the obvious, much has changed under the hood. Some things will play differently from what you are accustomed to. Some "bugs" will be the updated code working as designed. Expect a few surprises.
We hope you enjoy the long-awaited CSME 2.30 update!

Note, this is not an updater but a remastered full installer. The proper procedure is:
  • Back up the CSME 2.01 installation. [optional]
  • Using Windows Add/Remove Programs, uninstall CSME.
  • In File Explorer, manually delete the old "Campaign Series Middle East" folder, which will be crufty after the uninstall. [important]
  • Run the new installer.
If you don't uninstall the earlier CSME 2.01 first, you are likely to muck things up.
