September 1805. Relatively quiet with no DOWs, the calm before the storm. Stockholm and Cairo are taken. What's important here is that computer opponents for Spain, Turkey, and Russia are generally successful in taking Portugal, Egypt, and Sweden, respectively, during 1805 so that they are competitive in the game. Munich, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, and Tangier remain under siege. Karlsruhe is still holding out since France DOWd Baden back in January, amazing.
October 1805 is when war breaks out. France DOWs Prussia, Russia accepts the call to DOW France, and Turkey accepts the call to DOW Prussia. October 1805 also has France DOW Swabia, Spain DOW Algeria, and Prussia DOW Holstein. France maneuvers toward Prussia and there's are still minors to mop up, but France attacks Prussia at Dresden in a 27:23 battle the ends in victory. Unfortunately, France moves out of Berg in all this and a lapse of war occurs. (This still ocassionally happens, but not as often as before.)
I want to add an additional comment here. There are some additional negative modifiers in the AI code for early reckless Major DOWs in 1805. Generally, Austria and Prussia will not DOW France, Russia and Turkey will not DOW each other, and France will usually wait until October (after two build cycles) before DOWing Austria or Prussia. Usually, but there's still a chance for high die rolls and earlier DOWs. Historically, Napoleon waited until October 1805 to attack Austria and it took a couple of months for Russia to advance some forces. During playtesting, if France gets into an early all-out war with Austria and Prussia and Russia, it usually does not end well for France. That's the basis for the negative modifiers, to help some.
