Logistics question

Post by Saganaki »

Hiya, in the following save, my logistics seems to have collapsed in the centre between SHQ in zone Centre and zone West - anyone tell me why?

My central trunk is a railroad and sealed road - is it simply overloaded? It was prevously a dirt road that partially functioned but as soon as I upgraded it to a sealed road, then added a railroad replacement troops stopped getting through, although all other supplies seem fine.

Save is here:

The issue is that there's not enough logistics points going west from the capital to cover both food & ammo shipments to your troops and food shipments from the zones of The West and The South to your SHQ. The main reason for this is that your rail station is currently useless, because rail logistics needs another rail station or a railhead at the other end, otherwise only something like 10% of available rail logistics points may be sent (but once rail logistics is sent, it can be freely accessed from any hex along the way). You can solve most of your issue by building a railhead at Duncan Meander.

As a short-term fix, I recommend setting "block all except pull points" traffic signs on the roads leaving north and southeast in the capital hex, which should result in enough logistics points being sent west. You can remove these traffic signs once your rail logistics is in working order.

If there's still issues, another temporary fix is to call the governors of The West and The South, choose the 'Zone Inventory' option, and block the SHQ from picking up food. Be aware that this will cause food stores in the affected zones to backlog. You can sell excess food from zone storage using the 1st SHQ -> Trade button, or use spare logistics to transfer it to the SHQ manually with the 1st SHQ -> Transfer button in the right-side panel. You have lots of food in SHQ storage and plenty of credits, leaving plenty of time to upgrade your logistics stations so they can handle the load.

Additionally, I would also put a "block all except pull points" traffic sign on the dead-end road leaving the city of The West to the southwest. Hex perks do not need logistics to function, so the ~700 logistics points being sent that way are completely wasted.

Thanks so much, that all deeply makes sense!

With that advice and explanation I may yet survive the ai dogpile!
