Nug report 1.00.18; spontaneous change in AI ship design file

Post by NimrodSam »

IT at war with FR.

1. In 7/1908, I got error messages "Error in Damage Control Procedure BB Gueydon" and "Invalid floating point operation" several times each during the first ~3 turns. Gueydon was a FR CA which had been refitted in 1903, 1907, and 1908, and was under refit during 7 and 8/1908. In her 1907 and 1908 refit files she was listed as a BB. (She had sisters, but they followed a different refit path.)
2. 8/1908: Happened again.
6 additional trials of 8/1908:
3. Same.
4. Addition error message "Error in MoveAllShips Division: Claymore* LIst index out of bounds (44)." This popup reappeared no matter what I did, so in effect froze the game.
5. Edited 1908 design file to correct type to CA. Result: Same as #s1-3.
6. Changed type back to BB. Result: Same.
7. Changed type to CA (again). Result: No error messages. No idea why 2nd time lucky.
8. No action. Result: First 2 error messages occurred again, same as #s 1-3 and 5-6. So apparently not fixed.

-FWIW, the first 7 trials (not the 8th) were also wildly unbalanced. In each I had 3-8 cruisers or Bs plus 8-11 DDs, while FR had exactly 1 cruiser and 0-2 DDs. In ~ 300 hours of RTW 2 and ~ 100 with RTW 3 I have rarely seen imbalances like that and absolutely never twice in a row. This must somehow also be due to the error in the ship design file, but, as you see, both problems are flaky.

I tried going back to 1/1908, the first month of that war, with Gueydon's design files corrected.

The same error messages appeared in the very first battle (2/1908, there was none in January), only the ship referred to was Jeanne d'Arc, a CA of a different class.
-Unlike Gueydon, she was not under refit. She finished one that same month.
-Her design file for 1907 contained the same error as Gueydon's, describing her as a BB.
-As with Gueydon, earlier design files for Jeanne d'Arc did not contain the error. I checked all other FR design files for all classes and found no more wrong ship type errors. (Only 1 other class, not a CA, had a 1907 refit design file.)
-As with Gueydon, correcting Jeanne d'Arc's refit file did not get rid of the error messages.
-I cannot check whether these 2 design files were corrupt when these ships' 1907 refits began--4/1907 and 11/1907, respectively--because I only create backups once/year.

Thanks for the report @NimrodSam.
If you can, please upload a save that shows the issue by going to your game's Save folders, zipping up the correct save folder and posting it here, or leaving a link to it here using a file-sharing website like WeTransfer, MediaFire, Google Drive, Drop Box, etc. This would help us track down what may be going on in your game.
