[RESOLVED][1328.7] Steam Launcher not working

In 1328.7, when I click on play in Steam, nothing happens. It spins for a few seconds and then the play button turns to XStop, like its running. It doesn't even show up in Task Manager. I let it run for 30 minutes with no change. If I go to the CMO Steam directory and try to run the Launcher.exe, same thing. If I try to run Command.exe directly, I get this:

Note that Steam is actually running right behind the message. I have verified files multiple times. I switched back to 1307.19 and it seems to work. Switched back to the beta, and same problem. It worked with 1328.6 with no issues. CMNAO also works with no issues.

edit: tried running both the Launcher and Command as admin, but doesn't seem to make a difference. Next step is an uninstall and reinstall.

Did a complete uninstall through Steam, including wiping out the entire CMO Steam directory. No good.

I did get the Matrix Launcher for Steam to open by running it as admin. But when I click to open CMO 1328.7, I get the same error that it can't find the Steam client. I guess my last resort is reinstalling Steam. It has to have something to do with the beta. 1307.19 has no issues with finding the Steam client.

btw, nothing in the exception log.

After a little more investigation, I have found that the Launcher is running, but not showing. I'm beginning to think this is an issue between the Matrix Launcher and Steam.

Did an uninstall of both Steam and CMO with no change in start up issues. I give up. I guess no one else is having this issue. Tried one more thing...have my Steam apps on F drive. Moved CMO back to the C Steam root drive. No difference.

When I tried reinstalling CMO 1328.7, the install process stops at 100% for over 30 minutes. It eventually installs if I pause and unpause a few times.

So did a windows refresh, installed Steam fresh, installed CMO fresh to 1307.19. Command.exe works from the steamapp folder. Clicking Play in steam doesn't work. Went to properties of Laucher.exe and Command.exe in steamapps and forced into "run as admin". Now 1307.19 works from clicking play in the steamapps folder.

Then upgraded to beta 1328.7. Back to the same issue of CMO to recognizing the Steam client. Repeated the change force permanent "run as admin" for both exe's. Now its working. For some reason on this laptop, CMO has to have both exe's forced to run as admin.

But there is still something weird about the install. .19 was stuck at 98% installation progress for 30 minutes. Only when I paused and then unpaused it did it finish. 1328.7 then got stuck at 100% installation for 45 minutes until I hit the pause/unpause.

But at least I'm past the worst of it. Eight hours on a Friday/Saturday wasted. I'll point out that CMNAO on Steam had no issues running on the same drive.

I was having the same problem on 1328.7. I forced Steam.exe to run as administrator and it immediately resolved the issue.

Not from me. I always have issues with Matrix launchers. I think on this one I had to go into the game directory on Steam and tell it to run as admin. I have to do that with every update.
