I will do one from the German side, but you are really looking for the Strat from the Soviet side. I heard if you send $150 US (dollars) to K62 he would do an AAR ;-). That is "per" person reading K62's AAR
HLYA and I are saving money to buy ourselves a gently used Bf 109! If you can't contribute cash that's okay, just send HLYA your compromising pictures so he can sell them on the dark net.

This save looks good to me, if HLYA is still up for it. Thanks!

Quick disclaimer, this save is fairly Axis biased. I took over the game from another Soviet player who found the situation hopeless in November '41. I have earlier/later start dates as well if you want them.

AAR can be found here https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 2&t=383364

I've played a couple of games as soviets in '42+, and found it very challenging in terms of manpower. A big reason is that the VVS is severely dominated until '44. There's a lot of reasons why, but German air support constantly bombs attacking troops, essentially doubling casualties on offense. I put AA SU's on almost every unit, but it only helped so much. The other main reason is that German panzers/pz gren can fly around the map and slaughter your advancing divisions. Germans are essentially unrestricted logistically after '41 once the vehicle shortage is overcome, and they can sustain devastating counter attacks turn after turn with a super depot nearby.

Is this not the analysis we are looking for? You have the turns from this game with three very qualified players, and all the saves I feel our answers are already in front of us.

Yes, this game between skilled players ended in a Soviet rout in late '42, but that's not our main concern, is it? We all acknowledge that things can go south for the Soviets in '42. The real question is whether this is due to a flawed game balance, leaving the Soviets with no viable options.

The observations made by jubjub, although intriguing, differ from those initially presented in this thread. Based on the AAR, the Soviets are being pocketed, not merely worn down, and he comments about German counter-attacks, rather than straight attacks, being overpowered.

After briefly examining jubjub's saved game and the short update from summer '42 on that AAR, I've already identified several things I would do differently as Soviet. Would they make a difference? I believe so, but I'm open to being proven wrong within the game itself.

I'm up to continue with our initial plan to play the saved game (although described as "fairly Axis biased") using alternate Soviet tactics, and also to write a detailed AAR about it. Are you still willing to take the challenge and see if we can provide a nice learning experience for everyone here?

After thinking and looking over the AAR on this I would rather start a game from turn 1. This would, in essence, also incorporate the losses in 41 too into the study. But for me it would be a game, not a test game. I prefer to make my own mistakes in game, and have my own strategy :)

Any other German player can pick up the save and try it out on K62 if they wish. Otherwise I would only play from turn 1 and ultimately would end up being "the" game I think on the forums :)

In my JB game I feel that I was on the road to stopping the 41 offense. But a tragic accident happened to my wife that deviated that game from continuing. If the Devs could resurrect it I would be more than happy to continue if JB wanted to too.

In a nutshell 41 for sure and most of 42 the Soviets have their hands full and "open TB's" is "NO" friend of the Soviets. Granted the problem is still there but open TB's exacerbates the problem big time.

I am more than willing to play either side if anyone wants a serious game with AAR's.
With over 2m Soviet causalities by turn 9, I was very happy with the situation.

I'd be delighted if the game could be resurrected.

Let me ask, can't hurt to see if they can resurrect it.

I have sent a PM to @Joel to see if this can be resurrected with a copy to you Jasonbroomer. Thank you much!

It is not "Eagle Eye, or Eagle Eyes". Anyone can see it just that I am the only one to mention it.

Always happy to start another game if you wish JB if this one can not be resurrected.

It was part of the RtC tournament prize (and you did notice it very shortly after it came up). I also got FC:SS, RtW3 and NWS with the prize money... so I might not be starting any new WitE2 games for a while :) Giving it a couple more days just in case someone else is interested in taking up the jubjub save.

Dang, you are the "man" of gaming! I want to grow up to be just like you ;-).

I won't be taking the Jubjub game myself so good luck to anyone that wants that.
