5.0.0.10 crash

Post by jjdenver »

This one crashes when I try to declare a land attack by the 3 SU units in Persia. Crashes on the next phase (emergency HQ supply). Would trying to manually edit the file to remove emergency HQ supply allow us to proceed or is there something else we can do? Should I be using any newer/other version?
Thanks

This game goes into an infinite loop (using the latest version). Fatal bug.

What would you suggest we do?
A) Abandon game
B) Wait - a fix is imminent?
C) try to revert down to an earlier version of MWIF (which version)?
D) temporarily revert to an earlier version to pass this phase then back to 5.0.0.10 (will that ever work)?

Thank you

I have a workaround suggestion for you. Prior to the land combat declaration, disable emergency supply phase for all countries. I did and I was able to get through to HQ support. After the land combat you could reenable those phases or keep it disable for all countries and manually use emergency HQ supply by right clicking on the appropriate HQ unit when you need it.

Great idea Ronnie ty. In fact we don't even need that rule. Probably I can turn it off in the file. I think you show how to do that somewhere in your guide. Let me work on that. ty. :)

No need to edit. You can turn off the optional (in the game) by right clicking on it on the options screen.

However, I have been a couple of years trying to deselect the "carpet bombing" checkbox, we are playing Netplay and the game says it aint permitted in that modality.
I guess I can edit the file to H2H or Solo and edit it. Right?

I don't know about H2H but in Solo all you need to do is to right click on the optional rule to toggle it from: (1) on to off or (2) off to on. One caution though, don't toggle (i.e., mess with) those optional rules that include extra units (e.g., Cruisers in Flames).
I would assume the same for H2H but since I've never played H2H I can't 100% guarantee that.

Well, I use Netplay, I only change to Solitaire or H2H to be able to move the game to the next phase when it stalls.

However, I was talking about that screen on "Disabling Phases", I believe you cannot reach it in Netplay. I have changed optionals as you say (sometimes unadvertedly, causing some mess), but what I really wanted is to disable the Carpet Bombing phase, which we selected and have been 3 years regretting it by now. We are now ending the game, but it would be nice to know if there is a way to disable phases while in Netplay because when I try I get a pop-up that says it is not possible in NP.

EDIT: OMG, I must not be able to do it because the optional may be selected... O dear...
