I'm not a football fan, I don't understand anything about arbitration which sometimes punishes and others not for the same faults.
The English played better and deserved to win but luck was on our side...
like a bad wargame whose victory depends on the dice.

To be fair, the execution of the chances you get at scoring are as important as the ability to get those chances. I did think the English had some great chances, but their execution was not up to par. The French on the other hand, had some great goals, they were efficient. I don't think that the parable to the bad wargame is warranted.

What an insulting thing to say on a wargaming forum. I am probably less of a soccer/football fan. No I am not English or French either, so that can't be used as an excuse. Maybe you are?

The new season is about to begin, and as I am looking out at the snow, I wonder why even bother with it. Football is basically a complete crock. How such a simple, beautiful, thing as football can be turned into such a heap of incompetence, corruption, and worse eludes me.

That we have an national team that can not play competently (as a team) does not help.

England begin their campaign today against Haiti. The England squad has been decimated by injuries since winning the Euros, but lets hope they can still get beyond the group stages and into the knock-out rounds at least.

Goodbye Harry Kane (but hopefully not forever) and best wishes for your new career in Germany. Hopefully you will gain the trophies you deserve, playing in a quality team (shame its Bayern but I will have to put my liking for Dortmund on hold for a while).

.....and so its those best of sporting friends - Australia vs England - in the second semi-final for the right to play Spain or Sweden.

Lots of “Colombians” in the crowd with Aussie accents and would have expected nothing less as the Sydney crowd made their desired outcome known throughout the match.

England were a bit better, but still well short of what will be required to beat any of the remaining three countries. And England will be all too aware that it was Australia that dished out their first defeat under Serena Wiegman. In sport, you never under-estimate the Aussies.

Australia vs England will not be for the feint hearted......
