Guys, I have been around here for 4 years now, and have not seen so many lockdowns and deletes of threads in those 4 years as i have in the past 2 weeks!!!
Can both sides of whats going on around here please.....

This is not going to be polite, but this is how I see it. The protests againts the latest OOBs would have calmed down eventually, but all it took was a new incompetent moderator who so willingly wanted to demonstrate his moderating powers thereby causing much more fuss than was necessary.

You mean like yours? I have rarely seen such a hypocritical statement before. This is like the third or so such statement from you. I guess that means you should be banned too. Hmmm, sucks to think you could be banned for having your say, eh? Since you agree with the moderator, you don't have much of a chance of that though. Which is the point of peoples complaints lately.

I am for the improvement of this forum, which is why I am not for this new censorship crap, especially when it applies to only a few people. You do not understand that? You were allowed to say what you wished. Others would have had their posts deleted for it. That is right to you? I do not remember these people insulting your heritage, calling you foul names, etc. They simply got frustrated and tried a more brisk approach. Which is exactly what you did. See?

I agree with you that censorship is a VERY touchy issue on forums and will destroy the credability of a forum quickly. Attacks on heritage or foul names is not acceptable and offenders should be warned then punished. All I am saying is that say it and get on with it. I shouldnt have to scroll through six or seven posts about yellow submarines....[:)] When the topic is something else. No posts should be deleted at the lmax they should be moved into a "sarcasim" thread if they are off-topic. Look gobs I have known you the longest on this board and you have helped me numerous times over. Over at the depot you are part of the lifeblood over there. I just hope everyone can remain civil,no matter how much they feel wronged.

You do have valid points, Mag. My only worry is people who label other people's posts as 'crap'. That is just one opinion. I am sure it is not crap to the person who wrote it, and that should be remembered always.

What if someone with a delete button suddenly finds one of your posts to be not what he wanted to have to scroll past....?

Crap is a strong word. I only refer to short posts usualy one line long with a snide comment attached. Like i said before sometimes there is good info attached to it,and thats a good thing(Martha Stewart).

Did anyone who got deleted p.m. the mod? If so any he have a explanation and you still dont agree? Take it to the next level. Kg is obvously not going to put up with as much as past mods,thats his style. Deleting posts though will only result in wonder if anyone should post at all. I say deal with the source not the output of the source.

I think this will be it for me here in regard to posting...time to make a quick note and then put the Gone Fishing sign in the door window.

Here's my 3 points:
Informative:
Forums are supposed to promote the sharing of ideas and then the debate of the points those ideas contain. Not everyone will like everything they read...and in a forum setting they should be allowed to post their opinions [and] any facts with cited sources which they feel shows their stance to have substance.

Fun
Yes...that dreaded "F" word. Forums should also contain some humor...otherwise they would be boring beyond belief. If they were just the citing of all fact...then this place would be nothing more than an online library. Ever notice how much fun a public library is? I read where someone said that they hated the forums when there was too little exchange of information and too much banter...well now you have information galore floating about and very little humor outside of sarcasm...yep, seems to have improved this place 110% hasn't it? (see...only humor left around here tends to be sarcastic)

We all know that there is no such thing as Free Speech on a internet forum hosted by a private company...and it is wrong to someone to make harmful or hurtful comments and then hide behind the curtain of "Free Speech". However, a forum should be as tolerant as possible so that ideas with merit can still be gathered and shared even from posts that might not be 100% positive at the outset.
Unfortunately we have seen posts modified, censored, locked down and deleted simply because their content was questionable in terms of "not being supportive"...which is sad. I don't advocate turning a blind eye to threads that degrade into what amounts to personal attacks...those should be addressed and given the 3 strike rule. However, when things are handled in a Draconian way...then the first two points suffer a breakdown as well...and what you get is this.

Anyway...that's how I look at it folks. Hope it all gets resolved one day...best wishes.
