For no (obvious) reason, fleet goes back to homebase instead of taking mission

The selected fleet in the save is 2nd Fleet, and it's automated (raid). It recently killed a space creature in the region where it currently is (pretty sure it was in the OJ410 system).

There’s another mission queued, for a gravilex in the Hapis system. The fleet has plenty of fuel to get there, and to then reach the Siecusha system, in which there’s plenty of fuel for all the fleet. In fact, right now, there’s only one ship that is low on fuel (Fearless Horizon, the one circled in green in the fleet’s selection panel in the screenshot). If I select any of the other ships in the fleet, the fuel range is big enough that it doesn’t show on-screen. So the fleet doesn't need much fuel at all at this point, just Fearless Horizon.

So the queued mission to investigate the Hapis system could be assigned to the fleet.

But instead, the fleet received the order to move to its homebase, the Lenos 3 Spaceport. Not to repair. Not to refuel. Seemingly, just... because.

Don’t know if it’s a fuel source location problem, or something else, but this type of thing is one of the main reason why I almost never use automation (except for defense fleets). I’d like to reduce the micromanagement required for managing fleets, but the automation logic needs to be improved first (I know: it’s a tall order).

One thing that should be much easier to implement though, and one of the biggest improvement that could be made to the control center, would be to allow the user to:

* choose a fleet to assign to a mission
* force the fleet assigned to the mission to execute the mission immediately.

That would be a kind of semi-automation, that would make use of the control center and render it so much more useful!
- Imagine how confusing it is to a new player!

Thanks for the report! We'll consider these ideas for future improvements.
