Meet Dave

Dave and his disagreeable traid of ruffians have recently settled in what used to be the Boskaran's home system, a rather violent disagreement has broken out over one or two key matters of philosophy: whether or not the Boskarans should have or build ships, and whether or not I'm going to need to use the editor.

Now these pirates spawned as part of an event, I think what has happened is that when they were randomly assigned to a faction, they were assigned to the pirate base that starts off in my home system (both are of the Iron Rock Gangsters) As they are not a recognised faction, they cannot be bought off, and unlike regular pirates they do not raid and go away to quieter shores, but instead repeatedly bulldoze over everything in sight. No bueno.

I could be wrong, it's possible that I'm missing something. But it seems to me that event pirates should not be assigned to the base in your home system.

I've never seen anything like that in my games. It does look like a bug (even though Dave is known throughout the galaxy for his psychopathic behaviors).

I suggest that you post a bug report in the support section of the forum (top of the forum page), and attach to it a save of that game. If you also have a save of just before the event that you mention, that would be even better (if you do have it, attach both saves to the bug report).
- Imagine how confusing it is to a new player!

I believe there are a few types of pirate behavior now, one of why is pure chaotic with no chance of payoff. It's probably the editor (or different game starting settings) to avoid that without a fight.

Hey thanks for pointing this out. Do you happen to have a save that shows what you're seeing?

Thanks for the response, I was just thinking of moving this to the support part of the forum as suggested.

This is a save from just after the screenshot in my original post:
Boskaran Hive - Boskara - 2808-12-10.zip
(3.59 MiB) Downloaded 20 times
But this autosave -from over an hour before, shows the ships in question already active (you can see my explorer under attack from them):
Autosave9.zip
(3.64 MiB) Downloaded 14 times
Hope this helps, like others I haven't had anything quite like this happen before.
