Simultaneous turns

Can someone lay out all the pros and cons of simultaneous turns vs alternating? I have found bits mentioned here and there in the forums, but am curious for a full explanation.

The biggest con for simultaneous, for me at least, is that the weather remains the same (or can be set to do IIRC, tho I cannot find the toggle in the editor) for both the first and second player. This gives a big edge to the first player because he can plan his actions knowing what weather his opponent will have. This is most crucial in carrier battles.

It seems like that advantage could be mitigated by making the weather part of the FoW?

Even in simulataneous the weather changes for each player. If it is the same for both it is just coincidental.

Appreciate the replies folks! Does anyone know of any other issues other than weather? Or if the Devs had intended any differences?

The settings in some scripts may need to be adjusted to prevent them all happening on the turn of the side that first reaches the relevant date.

I can think of Pop Up events but there might be more. This really would be a case of trying it and seeing...
