Trade agreements working as intended?

Post by mcbeath89 »

So I've noticed that despite having free trade agreements my freighters hardly ever get needed resources from my neighbour despite them being abundant and easily within travel distance.

I tested this in game editor starting a game as a one system empire with a nearby ally free trade agreement. I then edited it so my ally had mining stations on all my systems resources. Despite desperately needing resources my freighters just sat idle. The only time one went to get resources was when I built enough escorts to completely run out of silicon. They dispatched a freighter and got like 200 silicon when they could have easily got a full cargo as the station was overflowing with it. No Caslon was bought despite being 0 and no luxuries either.

It seems the private economy only actually trade if your in dire need of resources. This seems broken. Surely with a free trade agreement (so no tariff drawbacks) your freighters should see the allied mines as essentially yours. They should be buying from them if the stock is their to get your planetary stockpiles to maintaince. Is this working as intended? I have no mods and have checked the integrity of my game files.
