American Squadrons with British Aircraft Question

I recall way back when I started flying this game there was a blurb in one of the Manuals that stated if you don't replace the British Aircraft in these squadrons before, I think either the New Air Force is created (9th? 15th? ) or before Italy Surrenders you lose those squadrons to the Brits. However I have scoured all the manuals I have and I can't seem to locate this information. Can anybody share the specifics with me? Is it in the Manual, and if so where is it?

I started a new Campaign with one of the new updates and you know me, I don't like not having all the details.

Good to see you sir. Well it's not in the manual, but from the code I see there are several upgrades involving USA aircraft upgrading to GB aircraft and vice versa. Pilots and nationalities never change though. I'm too fried on bug hunting to convert the code to something you can glean info from. Maybe I'll list them on the next patch readme.

Oh no need to do that. I just remember reading somewhere that you would lose those squadrons some how if you didn't change their Aircraft from British to American Aircraft by some time or before some event occurred. It was likely the Original 12 Oclock High manual from way back when.

I seem to recall that the event was either when Italy surrendered and/or when the Germans retreat behind the Gustav Line. Which is when you get control of Southern Italy. Or, it was when the new US Air Force was created, I am thinking it was the 9th or 15th Air Force. One stayed there in the Med but the other was in the Pacific I think.

Thank you for replying! I still love this game. However my Wife got me WitP Admirals Edition for Christmas so I been pouring over the manuals and docs for that. That game is HUGE !!! Think I am gona like it as much as this one.
