Task Forces

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

Task Forces

Is there a way to create actual task forces? I have my ships grouped in divisions already, but I'd like to do something like an actual task force. I'm in WWII period now with my game, and I'd like to group 2 Carriers permanently with something like a battleship and a couple of AA cruisers with a destroyer screen.

When I try to do this with divisions in the same area, I often see the destroyers and cruisers race off somewhere away from my carriers and they are left without a screening force or some of the ships don't show up for the battle when in real life, they would always be operating together.

Have you set roles for your divisions?

Do you check your division roles when the battle starts?

You won't get permanent task forces because formations rarely stay the same for more than a few months due to various issues.

Thanks, I must have missed that entire section of the rules when I read it. I went back and found it. Still would like to create a specific task force rather than having divisional roles. But this will help some.
