When I have given a refuel order to one (or more) individual ship(s) that is/are part of a fleet, any subsequent order to that fleet cancels the individual ships’ orders. And that’s a problem.

Let me illustrate.

In my current game, as the Ackdarians, I’m working toward retaking the Kyrellia 2 colony that the Boskara (Great Boskara Empire) have taken from me. 1st fleet is blockading the colony until I have an invasion fleet able to take it back.

1st Fleet has destroyed many Boskaran ships, but the little devils have also managed to damaged one of 1st Fleet’s ships (Eminence of Wigu). Since there are no damage repair module on board at this point, I took the damaged ship out of the fleet, and sent it to the capital (Equinoi in the Wigu system) for repairs. Because 1st Fleet needs to be as strong as it can be to deal with the insects, I’ve topped up the fleet so a new frigate would be built right away.

But, the newly built frigate (Growling Provocation) started moving toward 1st Fleet’s flagship without having refuel first (so that problem still occurs). When I realized that, I wanted to manually order Growling Provocation to refuel. But I know that I’ll have to give manual orders to 1st Fleet before the ship has finished refueling (when 1st Fleet managed to destroy Boskaran ships, I was manually controlling it, which I intend to continue doing for the time being).

So after each manual order given to 1st Fleet to focus its attack on one Boskaran ship at a time, I would have to re-give a refuel order to Growling Provocation (the fuel-less frigate resulting from 1st Fleet topup).

Tedious. Not fun at all.

Of course, as a workaround I can take Growling Provocation out of 1st Fleet, order it to refuel, and, when (or if?) I think of checking it’s fueling situation, then manually add it again to the fleet.

That’s what I’ll do. But not only is that tedious, it also makes pointless the refuel button of individual ships that are part of a fleet.

Of course, taking out that button could be seen as a "solution". But I'd rather see a modification of how a fleet's individual ships process refueling orders. Like insuring that when a manual refuel order is given to one or more individual ships belonging to a fleet, that refuel order should remain active as long as the ship(s) have not refueled, at least to a certain level. Could be a full tank, or maybe something like 150% of what’s needed to reach the flagship.

If multiple choices would be available to the player (like full tank or the 150% mentioned above), I believe the bast place to put these options would be in fleet's tactical settings, which could then also be specified in fleet templates.
- Imagine how confusing it is to a new player!
- Tedious is the opposite of fun
