Allies have no chance in the Air

Post by general billy »

Doesnt this intelligences report prove that the jap planes are invincible in the air. But it also proves that they are rather bad at landing. 18:1 ratio is pretty good. This is turn 230 in a scenario 17.

Those are similar to the numbers I see but my (IJN) Op losses are much higher. I think a lot of the Japanese planese get damaged in the Air-to-Air and crash after the combat. That is why my Air-to-Air numbers look so great but my Op losses always look so bad. So, I add Air-to-Air and Op losses together for both sides and then analyze that. Usually then the Japanese only come out 2.5:1 or 3:1 (against the AI and not going into 1943).

How do people get these results, I have never seen anything close to this in my games.

Anyone who gets these results simply hasn't figured out how to play, no matter what the AI difficulty level is. The best solution is to find yourself a PBEM partner.
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

It could also be (in addition to highest level AI) the version.
In early version (2.0) a sweep of 50 zeros vs 50 P39s often 40 P-39s would be knocked out (maybe 1 zero would be damaged). If you play 2.30 maybe only 5-10 P-39s would be shot down...

political and strategic mistakes live forever". The authors were refering to Japan but the same could be said of the US misadventure in Iraq
