How do I change settings for the log?

The log function during battles puts up one or two minutes worth of old messages and then seems to auto-delete them. Can I change that setting? I'd like to be able to look back at old hit reports, sighting reports, etc. for reference.

The whole log is stored and can be accessed by clicking the 'book' icon along the top of the battle screen.

I think the reason you only see a couple of minutes worth of messages is simply to help keep you focussed on what is happening right now.
