[WAD] Strange flight plan behaviour

Post by Elendil90 »

I'm playing the Multi-Domain Strike Planner tutorials, but I've run into a strange problem. In the first two scenarios, the F-15s abandon their mission and land less than 5 minutes after they took off. When the aircraft launch I get a load of messages saying "The flightplan for [aircraft name] is set to land at a unit that no longer exists. Reverted to using [where they took off] as return base." A few minutes later the F-15s suddenly disband their group and return to base. The weird thing is that I get the same messages for the B-52s flying from the other base, but they continue their mission.

In another attempt I manually set the landing locations in the fligth planner and all planes proceeded on task, however the Time-on-Target attempt failed miserably despite following the instructions. I've also noticed that for both sets of aircraft the status shows as "RTB (Mission over)" even though they've only just taken off. It's all really weird.

I'm using Build 1328.9

Can you try creating the mission with the target in the mission target list? It is difficult to create a mission with Time on Target if there is no assigned target :)

Ok, blu3s was right, it turns out that the lack of a set target was causing the problem. Since in this scenario the target is the only enemy unit on the map I thought setting the target would be unnecessary. Isn't it supposed to be possible to set up strikes without targets, causing the aircraft to wait for a target to appear and then scramble and attack it?

Yes, it is possible but without the Time on Target feat
