In Africa, Italian morale is low. Malta interdicted Benghazi and the retreating Italian armies had supply of 4. Elvis, in my opinion made the mistake of doing a "moving retreat" - the Italians lost their entrenchments and 2 newly equipped British armies pounded forward, with no losses. At this rate they will reach vet 1 soon.

The British Strat Bomber hit Benghazi and took a serious pounding from Italian AA, but reduced supply to 1. It has a range 11, so Benghazi must be taken before it can move up to hit Tripoli. Churchill and leaders are worried about Tripoli now that the Africa has been formed in Italy. All it takes is two panzer corps and the Egypt is lost. The RN ran out of funds and could not repair the carriers in Egypt. The rest of the fleet is in Canada. ASW 1 was reached and the destroyers will be outfitted.

In Russia, all is quiet. Garrisons have been deployed in the Karelia. Final research points have been added and the USSR begins to upgrade its troops. Stalin is hoping for a late invasion, but with mobilization at 62% Elvis will have to jump sooner than later. An intel hit showed German paratroops still in England. The Russians hope that the moving of troops too and from the Isle, the upgrading of surface ships, and the investment in Finland diplo will hamper early Barbarrosa movements.

USA reached Industrial Tech 3. Gotta keep that doubled chitted the entire game as Allies. Its MPP that wins the war and the arsenal of democracy does not sleep. Some Escort carriers were ordered for anti-sub duty as well.

In China, Japan has taken the port in South Asia, cutting off supplies. China taking in only 140 MPP a turn has hampered their defensive efforts. Chengow is surrounded and Chinese troops are pushing through central defensive zones. Infantry weapons 1 and Infantry warfare 1 hit so time to upgrade the troops! But most money is for repairs. A solid defensive line with fortifications has been created by hard working engineers in the south and will soon be occupied by Chinese defenders.

America, seeing that the homeland was invaded, suspects an invasion of the West Coast. Anti-air has been ordered in bulk, a few garrisons spun up, and soon Armies will be deployed in the West. Can't be loosing those oil fields!!

Malta is pounded down by 2 German artillery peices and two medium bombers of the Luftwaffe but still manages to survive. An Italian Sub snoops around Malta docks. I think the Afika Korps has landed. Apparently the ace of Africa never left and the German Fighter is still their. No purpose in having the Luftwaffe if panzers were not going to follow.

RN gets the carriers in place for a suicide run to knock out Tripoli. If NA can hold long enough for Torch, Allies will win. India is STILL AT 86% and won't join Allies??? I'm pretty sure it is supposed to have a 25% chance per turn of going allies after jan 1, 1940 ...

Indian corps sit at their docks ready to be shipped to NA, the Manchester tank core continus up the Indian Ocean. There is an Italian Destroyer raiding shipping so a carrier went out to spot for the transport. I'm getting quite nervous about NA now. May just take Benghazi and then bunker if the ports can't be bombed. Utilize the swamp hex south of Benghazi to defend against panzers and then hope America can follow up in Tunisia.

SA troops have success in Ethiopia. Adys Abbiba will soon be liberated. German morale is at 117% so a liberation will help amerliorate that and boost readiness for the NA British armies.

The Russian Bear is at 66% and collecting 250 MPP a turn. Not much, but able to max out Anti-Tank units. Axis total unit count is over 60. Sheesh it will be a storm.

In China, Japanese grind the Chinese troops to powder. No MPP to go around!

What's the deal with India not entering the war early?
I am just playing my first ever WaW match as Allies and decided to wait. This is silly. I hotseated and made them join right away. So much MPP difference.

I do not see why I should ever do that again.
What am I missing?!

Normally India has a 25% chance of joining if you say no to the decision event. The bonus is that you get a strength 3 army in Egypt and then no riots (mines attacked) in India. Normally I pick this option because I don't want to buy garrison units for that and waiting a few extra turns for India is worth the army in Egypt.

I searched the forums and I found a post where it says that India has a 25% chance of joining from January 1941 onwards.
Thats 1,5 years.
50% per turn if either Egypt or Thailand (?) fall.

I get it with the partisans. But you probably could ship some Garrisons from Africa.

Anyway - I wish the Event had a more precise description.

I don't believe they are treated as partisan hexes so garrisons/units have no impact on whether you take resource damage.

Huzzah! Unbelievably good news for the Brtish North African Excursion! Two British subs dash on Tripoli and manage to siege the port down. The RAF repaired the Strat Bomber command for a whopping 122 MPP in case further supply attacks are needed. Montogomery has reached Vet 3 and Benghazi falls as the LDRG blasts in. The Manchester tank core has docked in Ethiopia, now liberated and will soon be in Egypt after evading Italian destroyers.

The RN applies its first upgrades to destroyers in Canada. The United States orders more escort carriers to clear the Atlantic. And 5 anti-air are deployed in California to deter any would be invasion of the Western United States. Soviets begin upgrading units.

A very odd move by Elvis ... Malta has been bombed continually and 2 medium bombers and 2 tactical bombers are present. Not having air power in Russia will hurt the German invasion. Is he planning on taking Tunis and landing the Afrika core and the entire Luftwaffe. In my opinion if he dedicated the air power to the Med and landed some German HQ's Egypt and the oil fields would fall. A limited Russian invasion sure, but with Egypt down the Allies would be hard pressed. British Ultra hopes for Intel hits on German movements but so far have not seen any troop movements

Malta receives a pounding and is captured by a strength 5 AV. British NM falls, and the Axis rejoices. Spurred by the success of Sea Lion, Yugoslavia declares allegiance to the Axis power. The two British subs blocking Tripoli are spotted, with one sunk. The RN abandons the carrier run, as advancing desert recon shows Rommel's German armor and corps in Afrika!!! Ultra once again has failed.

The Afrika Korps has arrivied. The British Expedionary force mop up and bruise the Italian excursion. The marsh hex is crucial for British defenses. Tanks receive a penalty attacking from a marsh hex so hopefully the British can muster and build up entrechment. It appears the Luftwaffe will fly to NA as they are already stationed in Sicily. Odd choice for no air-power in Russia as they are 72% mobilized.

The British Strat bombers knows it will have no figher cover. It will get two bombing runs and then have to be upgraded. It will wait, for a "strategic" bombing run, depending on the best use of supply shortage on the Axis. The Manchester core that escaped the UK in a daring and brave maneuver has landed. The lack of defensive air-power is readily apparent. Do sit and wait for entrenchment but get hit with air power and hope to stall for the United States, or, do a mad dash for Tripoli. The commonwealth is moving SA troops and the newly joined Indian Forces to NA. It will be quite the bloodbath Choices!

In China, shattered forces are reformed. Defensive lines are fallen back to. And the Japanese beging mopping up the Chinese troops before focusing its eyes on the DEI and Pearl Harbor.

The Soviets sit and wait, troops are mobilized, Industrial Tech & Production Tech 2 have been reached, and C&C lvl 1 has been attained. A second chit was added to spur the research of AA lvl 2.

Rommel retreats the Afrika Panzers and leaves a Corps and Italian Garrison for defensive action. British Armies move up but do not attack, preferring to wait until next turn for the +20% prepared attack bonus which is so lethal using Armies against Corps. Clever swapping allows the light artillery to soften up the defending German Corps and reduce entrenchment and morale. Britain receives fighter upgrades 1 and moves up the Strat Bomber. The British Sub is attacked by the entire Luftwaffe, which is a fine trade to keep them in Sicily. I'm on the edge of my seat ... will Elvis commit the Luftwaffe to NA and drive for the oil lands, or operate it back to Russia?? The Axis are on the retreat which means no entrenchment, so for now Montgomery says "Attack!", however Benghazi is only Supply 1 so cannot move to far into low supply territory. Indian Troops from the commonwealth are pouring into Cairo and they have a little surprise for the Afrika Korps ...

In Russia, the Soviets hear reports of Axis war preparations. Soviet Engineers have prepped fortifications along the road to Moscow and a second anti-tank is deployed to the open fields of Ukraine. Soviet Researchers stumble upon a breakthrough for Infantry Weapons 2! USSR should have level 2 infantry within 3 turns! Investing double chits into Spying & Intel is always worth it as Allies!

The US of A purchases more Escort carriers and a Special Forces. They are capped on research upgrades and now begin purchasing units. There is no lend-lease to the UK so USA has surplus supplies.

Unfortunately, Turkey is at 80% mobilization. If Axis get units near Sevastopol they will turn Axis. The Allies begin preparations for an invasion of Turkey. Cannot attack Syria as it will bump Turkey Mobilization so still figuring out a plan. There is a potential to knock out the rail line with British Battleships near the Dardenelles, so the RN has begun upgrading the BB in Canada to come to the Med. This game will go the distance as Allies ... having to invade Turkey was not in the original plan.

## TOP SECRET ##

The Allied high command, including the United States, has devised a plan to invade Turkey after war simulations. Turkey is at 80% and will soon join, if Sevastopol falls.

This is the top secret plan to invade Turkey, codenamed "Initiative":
Inkedwaw28.jpg
Inkedwaw28.jpg (972.28 KiB) Viewed 1212 times
First, Strategic Bombers based out of Crete will destroy the rail line leading into the Dardanelles to ensure to Axis reinforcements can arrive. A second target will be the Turkish capital to reduce supply to zero to ensure the defending Army cannot be upgraded.

British Carriers will destroy the docked Turkish navy. A limited AV invasion will secure the Dardanelles coastline to clear the way for British Battleships that will then clear the port. US paratroopers will launch from the Italian Island (which will need to be conquered first!) to allow LAV to pass through to have direct attacks on constantinpole. Units will then land and attack from the land as well.

At the same time, UK troops will invade Syria, with a CV providing screening cover and taking out the spawning Turkish airforce to provide clear path for SB. US paratroops will move into syria and prep for a landing drop and then on turn two will advance onto the Turkish Capitol. The Allies expect the conquest of Turkey to last 3 turns, but carefully executed will take minimal losses.

Action in Africa! Rommel takes the initiative, and the German Panzers strike the British Army, inflicting 6 points of damage. It retreats behind the Corps.

British Artillery makes an error and shells the Corps instead of the tank hoping to be able to wipe the Core. It withstands and Army attack, a tank attack, a SF attack, and only takes 1 point of damage!! The German units readiness and morale is so high due to the 117% NM of taking the Isle. The field artillery will focus on the Panzers next turn since panzers do not have artillery defense. It appears I forgot to screencap Africa, but the German panzers are just too devastating.

No air units have been spotted in Africa and the world holds its breadth. USSR is at 83% mobilization and tanks have moved closer to the border. Shan Kai Shek warns Stalin. USSR upgrades its last units and makes a luxury investment into Ground Attack Weapons 1 (not shown in screenshot) hoping that they will hold out long enough until the Russian Red Air force can buy some tactical bombers.

My "luxury pick" is always Mobility.
This one Hex that gets the tank to the HQ... :D
Although Russian Units and therefore the Mobility upgrades are a lot cheaper in WiE (at least Infantry)

Mobility is huge for encirclements in WiE! I find it a bit tougher to get those in WaW and sometimes have to just slog it out. Russian troops are also more expensive ~ 150 for a corps vs WiE. I think mobility on tanks is underrated as it allows them to retreat after attacking as well!

This game is looking very rough for the Allies so looking for some miracle research hits to bring it back.

Is it?
GE forces are all over the place and Russia is looking strong. Brits in NA have lots of space to give before it gets serious.
GE does have MPP from England but it does lack the MPP it would usually have from western SU by now (which in turn are not missing in SU's budget).
I see you on top - but I'm also inexperienced in WaW

I thought the situation in NA was more dire than it really was. The Tripoli port I calculated to have been at strength 5 for at least 3 turns. Enough to bring in many panzers and the Luftwaffe. As you will see in the following report, I think Elvis made a serious mistake bombing Malta when those Stuka's could have been wrecking havoc in the desert. My air force was non-existence and with only 200 MPP a turn as UK could have repaired the ground units from a dedicated attack.

In Afrika, Montogomery rejoices. The "Strategic Bombers" flew unescorted and bombed the Tripoli ports down to zero. No more reinforcements!! The SB was almost destroyed on its second flight but it just may have saved Afrika! A German HQ is trapped and British AT crews close in low morale panzers and fleeing Italian cannon fodder. India prepares an AVL in case a hit and supply cut from the sea can be deployed, or, it not to prepare to take the Island near Crete to deal with Turkey.

The UK is only pulling in 200 MPP a turn, but if NA falls they will be able to re-fit the RN for an excusion back into the Atlantic. Allied war aims are a bit conflicted? Free London or go for the soft underbelly. Intuition tells me to knock out Turkey and invade Romania from the Black sea, forcing a surround on German troops in the USSR. With limited MPP early on, UK and US can force German troop movements, but not win a head on conflict. As the Industrial base kicks in and US Tanks roll of production in '43 and '44 the assault on the UK can commence. The biggest mistake Allies make is trying to take the offensive too early. Despite the victory in NA, Germany is raking in an astonishing 700 MPP a turn. That is a powerful amount of resource potential and the Allies cannot get cocky.

Waiting for ASW 2 from the US and UK will ensure the Altanic can be cleared. No doubt Elvis is upgrading his subs to defend the Isle.

USSR purchases an HQ and reaches AA level 2. Infantry Weapons 2 is at 98% and will hit next turn. The USSR prepares for war, but does not mobilize at only 93%. Tanks far away from level 2, and so the USSR will focus on upgrading troops to level 2 IW and building out shock armies.

Emboldened by MPP gains due to Sea Lion, USSR troops move back to Vladivostok and will - depending on the situation, force action in Manchuria. With Level 2 AA and IW level 2, Japanese troops will not be able to advance. By forcing a stalemate, hopefully a MPP drain can occur to give the US time to refit its fleet. I think Elvis will try to take Pearl, he's been farming his *** carriers all *** game and with NW 2 they will be able to poud Pearl to Peices. Since the US will be doing most of the Allies fighting on the Continent, I have to be very careful to manage NM for the US and not lose pearl. The US army moved to PH and prepared defensive positions.
