Looking for some Strategic Command ideas for SlitherineTV stream

Post by yogkangaroo »

Hey everyone,

Yogdog here. I'm currently doing a bunch of playthroughs of quite a few Strategic Command games on the official Slitherine stream. Stream can be found here:

https://www.twitch.tv/slitherinetv

So far, I've completed the following campaigns onstream:

Strategic Command WW2: War In Europe:
1) Axis campaign - 1939 scenario (Victory)
2) Allied campaign - 1939 scenario - max buffed AI (Defeat)

Strategic Command WW2: World at War
3) Axis campaign - 1939 scenario (Defeat)
4) Allied campaign - 1939 scenario - heavily buffed AI (Victory)
5) Axis campaign - 1939 scenario (Defeat)
6) Axis campaign - 1939 scenario (Ongoing, probably victory)

Strategic Command WW1
7) Central Powers campaign - 1914 scenario (victory)

Strategic Command: American Civil War
8) Confederate campaign - blue and gray scenario (Victory, completed entire campaign in one 12 hour stream)
9) France - Blood & Iron scenario (Victory, completed in same 12 hour stream)

I'm not the best player, but I can hold my own. Looking for some ideas for future games, or possibly even some mods to play. I'll be doing at least 2 hours streaming a day for the rest of July, and up to 6 (sometimes even 12 hours) so will have plenty of time to do some campaigns, as I will primarily be playing Strategic Command games. The runthroughs aren't being uploaded to the youtube channel so far, they're just on Twitch.

If anyone has any ideas, would be super appreciative. Any that take my fancy I'll do live on the Twitch channel. I don't mind harder ideas, but my skills aren't insane so if its something that requires a high skill level it might not be possible for me. Love the Strategic Command games, they're some of my favourite. Thanks everyone :)

Best Regards,

Yogdog

As I wrote on Facebook, Hubert and Bill should be able to provide you some great commentary as they have a bunch of good stories on the development from SC1 through SC2 to SC3.

There are some SC3 campaigns that will take you right into the action.

You’ll want to see some AI action as well. In particular, the 1939 World at War game has a decision event that kicks off a series of AI and Event scripts that depicts the Allied reaction to the German invasion of Norway. Very nicely done.

Some of the best “at start” action is in the 1942 and 1943 campaigns. In the 1942 Axis High Tide campaign the Germans launch their attack at Stalingrad and in the Pacific the Japanese attack Midway. But, I like the 1943 The Allies Turn the Tide campaign the best, as you conduct an Allied amphibious landing on Sicily and in the East the famed Soviet-German tank clash at Kursk begins.

For WWI, the campaign game I prefer is 1917 Fate of Nations. The campaign starts with all major nations at war. The East is massive and still somewhat fluid, while in the West huge armies are locked together from the North Sea to the Alps, and in the Middle East modern armies wage war across the Holy Land with the Arab uprising running parallel.

I don’t know if you have seen the newest game, American Civil War, but a campaign that would be full of action at the start is 1863 Lee Rides North. You not only have the forces set up for Lee’s attack into Pennsylvania and Gettysburg, but in the West you have Grant on the Eastern side of the Mississippi ready to envelope Vicksburg.

Also part of American Civil War is an additional released campaign, 1898 Remember the Maine. I like this one because the developer created several separate maps to tie the Western Pacific, the Caribbean and the Eastern Atlantic together with loop scripts. The game play between maps flows very smoothly.

Each of the above could possibly help demonstrate some very fun features contained in SC3. I hope all of this helps.

For WaW, there is a Pacific mod be Elessar2 that, while still room for improvement, is a very playable beta mod. I and Feinder are currently in 1944 and it has been a blast to play.
