However, I have a gripe regarding a couple of weird unit choices. I have purchased all the DLC's, and while examining the OOB's in the stock DLC scenarios, I have noticed that almost every German heavy machine gun is a Czech MG37 instead of the far more common MG34 or MG42. I see how the same designation for a MG34/42 heavy or light MG could confuse, but just indicate with a MG34 or 42lf suffix that they are fitted with the lafette heavy mounting and ammo boxes, rather than the LMG mags. Additionally, in scenarios set after 1943, the most common mid to late war German medium tank, the MKIV, is represented by the rather early MkIVd variant with the short 75mm cannon rather than the long barrelled MkIV variants that became far more common in all front line units after 1942. There may be more, but that's just what I noticed during a quick look through.
This may be nit-picking, but one of the things that I loved about ASL was all of the variants and types of weapons that you got to play with! I have seen the Global war mod, and I will definitely be installing it, but even in an infantry centered tactical game, I think more varied support weapons and AFV's should be added for each relevant DLC. For example, Kursk should have MkIV long barrel models included, since they were the most common MkIV present in Panzer divisions at the time of that battle, as well as Ferdinands (because Kursk is the battle that they are famously associated with).
Having said that, I still really love the game! These are just my own personal preferences
