Indian Ocean...I have been abandoned!

Post by Vanman »

If anyone is as old as me and remembers 'Stretch Armstrong', that pretty well sums up the Commonwealth position, particularly when the Japanese very rudely enter the war.

With the Med being a tense bloodbath, the Atlantic on a precarious knife edge (will my convoys get decimated this turn?), All Winston needs is another broad front to cover with units he just doesn't have. Yet you can't just leave it wide open beyond a few smattering Indian Army units that you never bothered to transport anywhere else.

With little to nothing to spare, what do you do? What NEEDS to be covered? Do you setup a small naval task force to keep the Japanese on edge? Throw in one CV? Lets hear it (the echo since the Indian Ocean is a vacuum).

The goal for me, as CW, in the Indian Ocean is to have enough to discourage Japanese small force raiding. If Japan want to be sure to win in the region I want to force Japan to commit his main carrier force, and hope that if he does so then it leaves Japan vulnerable to attacks from US forces from the Pacific.

I like to have my main carrier force (CW) in the Pacific at this point. Hopefully, the Italian, and German, navies are either contained or heavily reduced at this point. And that I have some land based air that can help out in any critical sea areas. Or CVL.
