"And never the twain shall meet"

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

"And never the twain shall meet"

Post by thedoctorking »

Is there any way to have your scout force join your main force? I built a couple of fast battleships that the game insisted on calling BCs. Now, they appear 50 miles or so in front of my main force, and when I move them back to the main force, I can't either have the main force BBs follow them or vice versa. I'm stuck managing two lines of battle. Any way to avoid this? Can I somehow tell the system I don't want a scout force? I'm actually content with being able to put cruisers on Scout and in any case I have the Zeppelins.

This is an annoying property of the scout force indeed.

Simply disable scout force in the doctrine settings and play completely without it.

Also a limitation of any capital gunship over 30kn being classified as a battlecruiser. :D

Here's the consequence of disabling scout force in the preferences: My two battleship divisions were supposed to be following the "battlecruisers" in line ahead. Each one is set to treat the squadron ahead as "core". As soon as I let them off the leash and turn on AI for the following formations, they break off and charge the enemy. I have no idea how to fix this other than do the rear admiral mode thing and control each formation individually.

Put the battlecruisers in fleet flag. Try doing that maybe.

Thanks, I've given that a shot, we'll see what happens the next time there's a war.

I have experienced such problems as well and reported this and similar bugs multiple times. If you can post a bug report too, the squeaky wheel gets the grease :-)

Sometimes they do what they're supposed to do and sometimes they don't. Think it has to do with leader characteristics? Like below average leaders or aggressive or what have you makes them do stupid stuff?

And is there such a thing as national characteristics? This is the Japanese. Although I should say I saw the AI launch charges with British BCs.
