Annoyingly, can't close this window

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

Annoyingly, can't close this window

This is a GUI issue rather than an actual bug, but when you open the air groups window, and you have some bases/carriers that are over complement, the error window won't let you close the air groups window and look, for example, at your aircraft types to see which ones you'd rather do without.

Move the extra to reserve.

Right, of course, but I'd like to be able to close the window, look at my aircraft types and their capabilities, and decide which planes I can do without. The inability to close this window means I have to make my decision based on my memory from a couple of turns (or years) back when I approved the plane design. Or reduce the size of some of my squadrons, which I think means that skilled pilots go into retirement and drink sake on the beach while watching the carriers sail off to battle.

I don't think they lose any experience if they are in the reserve during the same turn.

Will look at this to see how it might be handled better - thanks!

I think if you reduce the size of an air unit in the manage air groups tab, and then increase it back again, you lose experience. That is, your veteran/expert pilots are going into retirement, and then you rebuild the unit with newbies. Correct me if I'm wrong? Is there an unassigned pool of good pilots waiting around to be assigned to squadrons? This would be a nice feature if we don't have it.
