Rebuild designs not available for construction?

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

Rebuild designs not available for construction?

Post by thedoctorking »

I just designed a rebuild for one of my ship classes, and now I want to build more of that class, but with the rebuilt configuration. The rebuilt design doesn't appear on my list of options to build, apparently? Do I have to go design anew based on the original configuration and recreate the rebuild (as best I can remember it)? This seems odd. When you select a ship from the list of options on the build ship menu, you should automatically get either the most updated version of that ship or a choice of several versions, not just the original version.

And when I go to design and base my design on the rebuild design, I get a ship that starts 30 tons overweight? Very odd.

Open the design of your rebuilt vessel and just change the name.

Yeah, I've reported this on the NWS Forum. Trying to build an upgraded CA, could add 2kn to the old one with a rebuild.

The new one wanted to add another 300t of armour per knot of speed - 600t total - which is quite frankly, ludicrous (the equivalent of over 2,000 cubic feet of an iron/steel alloy).

Thing is, I know there's a fair bit of stuff that gets researched that adds weight to the ship. Some of it does seem a bit disproportionate though.
