7th and 20th Panzer Divisions TOE

Post by Teo41_ITA »

This emerged from our Discord channel: why do the 7th and 20th Panzer divisions have 90 French AC, distributed in 4 different slots?

Because I didn't create a special OB for the two divisions. They use the four slots that would normally be occupied by German made armored cars.

It may be more about the numbers, 95 cars each, sum of 190.

Currently the 1941 Campaign has 140 in storage and 2x95 in those two Divisions, which adds up to 330. I don't know how correct the number "190" of the posted quote is tho, since some went to Vichy France....and so on... .

Askey shows that the 7Pz and 20Pz were authorized 54 Panhards but had 95 on hand at the start of Barbarossa. No idea how many were sitting around in depots. Dennis and Jim usually works those figures.

I did look at a series of saves from AI runs and those four Panhard slots proved problematic, I even had seen the 7th or 20th PD with 4 slots of german AC + the 4 french ones.
I'll condense the Panhards to 2 slots and make the 2 others as 221/223
Its posible that Askey is wrong with 95 Panhards for each of the two divisions as that's far higher than the common assignement of armored cars for PDs. 190 is often reported as the overall number of Panhards in the Eastern Front sector.
Germany captured and used a lot of foreign armored cars so I can live with having some more Panhards. Plus there may have been some more production under german control and or captured after occupying the Vichy sector after Torch.
