Looking for situation reports on Mega Campaign - Screaming Eagles.

Anyone playing it currently? Updates? Problems? That is beside the perennial save issues. Sorry about those.

I'd love to hear if anyone is still in the fight, or how many have completed some or all of the threads of the Campaign.

Great campaign - I was looking for something like that - long campaign with small infantry core.
Battless are hard, but very interesting. Many times I was surprised with enemy actions.
I've just finished 327th GIR and started 501st. MCSE teached me what I shouldn't do with my infantry

I did 2 327s;

Started 501 3 times - 1st played 3 scen, did good, then decided to look at men's stats and started over. 2nd and 3rd times - I lost AO on 1st volley at LZ - got my b*** kicked badly in one, eked out a draw in the other. Play 2nd & 3rd through 3 scen

The 3rd time, it was strange that a sniper wiped out the entire AO in 1 turn, then knocked off 3 men from another unit before being taken out.

I still have 327_2 & 501_2 & 501_3 saved.

I never know how good or bad I am doing until it's over - been surprised both ways.

I'm still in it. I'm 1/2 way through the 501st and the 506th. Don't know why i'm playing them concurrently, I just am

I reeeally like the smaller battles. They hooked me with the first battle of the 501st trying to hold that little road junction. I lost 1/2 the force and the AO.
The bigger ones, like the 506th trying to get the bridges at Eindhoven are okay, just not as exciting to me.

Love the write-ups and articles too. I was stunned to read what all a paratrooper carried with him. And TWO cartons of cigarettes! [:)]

Haven't run into any problems other than the usual "Rankless and/or No Leader" thing. No hiccups, glitches, or crashes. (Hope I didn't just jinx that [;)])

This one is easily as fun as Watchtower which has been my favorite to date. It'll probably even surpass it in my eyes after I get through with all 4 threads.

GEntlemen! This is a great encouragement, especially from guys who are the "silent" majority of devoted gamers. You are doing me a service by reporting in.

I'm delighted that you have confirmed my belief that as a general rule (NOT always), smaller scenarios are best for a campaign of this nature. It makes the fighting vey close to the heart.

You've been most kind to respond and this thread surely should give a note of encouragement to all those whoe worked with me on this project.

Hi guys, although I'm a novice at SPWaW, (I have only played a few scenarios via email), I treated myself to SE MC. I have started with the 327 as suggested and I'm loving it. I have barely scatched the surface but I'm hooked already. If you guys don't mind the babblings of an amateur I'd love to keep you all informed on my progress, (provided you promise not to laugh!).

The reason I think that the smaller, quicker battles are being received so well is a function of the time investment required. The majority of us here seem to be 30+, have jobs, school, (sometimes both), wives, kids etc. etc. There are only so many hours in the day and many responsiblities that demand our attention. While all of the other MC's are great, they can get a bit long in the completion process. I have always enjoyed finally FINISHING a battle and seeing what comes up next, who gets chewed out , which of my troops get promoted, reading all of the intel and so on.

That gets to happen much more frequently with MCSE.
