"Formation X is not allowed for Y' error in battle gen

This has happened a couple of times in battle gen, I thought I'd give you a save file so you could look at it. The battle gen gave me a couple of DD squadrons that were on Support mission and Screen formation. Unfortunately, Screen formation is not allowed for DDs at this point in history. Also, my main formation, my CAs, start out pointing one way but with a course set in a different direction, i.e., they are making a sharp turn as the scenario begins. However, the DDs are on human control (because I use captain mode to help deal with unfortunate AI behaviors) and because the controls are locked at the beginning of these scenarios, the DDs are stuck going the wrong way for some time. Depending on how long it takes us to find the enemy, we could be miles away from our DDs by the time this happens. Annoying, and afaik, no way to fix other than ctrl-alt-delete.

Locking the controls at the beginning of battle is annoying anyway, but if you insist on doing it, every part of the force should start out on the same course.

Maybe you should be allowed to change the formation of units where the controls for course and speed are locked? After all, if the formation is on AI control, it will change course and speed to conform to the lead formation in these cases. It's only the unfortunate destroyers (or carriers in another similar case I had in an earlier game) who are stuck running off into the middle of nowhere because you can't put them on AI because of their illegal formation.
