[1328.10a Steam] Display Country not working

The display country and city isn't working. Not sure how long this has been this way. I only use it once and a while.

Note no labels show up.

These used to work without before the overlay Placenames was implemented in CMO and CMNAO.

Tried with the last version of CMNAO and the Country and City label option was showing this.

I'am running straight Matrix not Steam. Tried many different scenarios, no country labels on anything I tried. I'am sure this will be fixed on future updates.

I think the 'Placenames' layer went behind the Stadmen paywall and was removed.


Hopefully, there is an open source list of the world's cities floating around somewhere.

IIRC, the older place names were coming from NASA's open source WorldWind database. It probably got deprecated when Stamen came online.

I'm certain that the devs will eventually restore the functionality in the order of priority with other tasks.

This is not placenames from the view menu. This is, as is shown, from the options menu. It was working when CMO was first released and stopped working a while ago.

Right, place names was an option on the View menu in 9. From my older Win10 machine.

But was dropped some time after that. From my newer Win11 machine

The place name checkbox in the options menu doesn't work in either case.

After playing with settings { /Game/Options/Map Display/Display country and cities }, verified that it was checked on to display. Sill no display of country and city names. Running Matrix version 1.06.1328.10.1 { not Steam }. Not sure what to do next to get country and city namesto display. I can see that other people having this same issue but I have not seen any solutions yet. Thanks for reading, open to any suggestions. Cheers !

To correct the Countries and Cities not displaying on the map, I have seen some threads suggesting "' Please disable the Placenames" layer " but I cannot find where that option is located. I looked in the Game Tab, the Options Tab and the View tab and Map Settings but cannot find it. Running Matrix version 1.06.1328.10.1. Thanks for any help ! Cheers !
