Allied elite sweepers beaten this turn over Singapore by the humble Oscar IV (highly under rated) and Zero.

It will only get harder for the Allies when the Frank R enters the game properly (but probably not at Singapore). The A team has redeployed to China.

Pakhoi is going to become the focus for the next two months.

It is surrounded by major Japanese airfields with plenty of supply and aviation support.

This is fantastic location to wage an attritional style campaign in the air and the sea on the USN.

Game on.

Big raids last turn around Pakhoi fail to deliver the goods but promising signs. For reason only known to the AI Gods, Canton's air groups decided to sit out the missions with all of their torp bombers. Disappointing, but even against a reasonable strong Allied CAP a number of smaller strike packages continue to leak through. Losses are not light but acceptable for this time period.

The go to bomber for the bypassed bases continues to be the Jill with its excellent range and reasonable payload. Getting decent results but in the greater scheme of things only pinpricks for Lowpe. Still allied fighters will have to be tasked to protect the long LOCs of the Allies which will make the fighting at the front a tad easier.

The key theatre continues to be Southern China.

The Chinese offensive has succeeded in halting the assault on Chungking but at heavy cost. The battered remnants are being pursued but the IJA is now in no position to recommence its offensive against Chungking. Reinforcements are being steadily sent South to bottle up the Allies around Pakhoi and turn it into the new Anzio.

A couple of Allied Armour battalions have been savaged and the Frank R has now taken to the air to achieve at least air parity against Lowpe. Prospects look good at turning this battle space into a grinding war of attrition which will drain and slow the Allies down considerably.

Chinese offensive around Chungking has been crushed. Survivors being pursued and LOC's being cleared of splinter formations of Chinese.

Burma army continues to make good its retreat despite heavy Allied air raids.

Key positions in Thailand/Vietnam continue to fall as the army grinds its way towards Southern China.

Tying down large formations of Allied troops is the key so no silly banzai attacks.

Mass production of the Frank R has well and truly commenced.

A small sweep smashed a few Hellcats last turn over Southern China.

The squeeze around Pakhoi continues.

Allies start to withdraw from the isolated Wuchow.

Future link up between the retreating elements of the Burma Army with the IJA Chinese based armies is looking more promising by the day. Ideally the rally point would be around Hanoi.

The Frank R is starting to assert their presence in the air.

Good sweeps in Northern Vietnam this turn against Mustangs and P40Ks.

A feint out of Singapore to draw out Lowpe's air and surface assets worked quite well.

2 x US DDs sank and 1 x BB and 1 x CL crippled. IJN losses neglible though a CA has been banged up.

Ultimately the shipping is doomed around Singapore but it will continue to sell their lives dearly.

Late Oct 43

A daring USN DD raid into Hong Kong.

2 x Fletchers downed with a couple of AKs and a DD sunk for the Empire. Overall happy with that trade but Hong Kong needs to be fortified a bit more. This is a taste of things to come.

Slowly but surely gaining the upper hand in Southern China.

Opportunity here to cut off a couple of columns of Allied troops.

First crack at Singas by Lowpe.

Very keen to counter attack and try and throw the shattered Allied formations back over the causeway. Supplies are a major issue but perhaps bamboo spears will suffice.....

Enabling conditions are now in place for the IJA to start major offensive operations in Southern China.

Kick off in a day or two to drive all Allied forces out of Southern China. All tank divisions are now set.

First stage of the counter offensive in Southern China has been successful. Wuchow now back under IJA control.

Nanning is next but it will be a tougher fight. Time to roll them back!

Laid a trap in Singapore harbour with a number of badly damaged AKs and APs. Hoping to draw in some decent surface forces onto the dense minefields. Got something but not really what I wanted. :?
