Post by Tom_ »

Hi Folks,

Just purchased the game after hearing really positive opinions.
First thing I have done is download the map pack and also SeaBee, so it works on my modern PC.

I have extracted the files to my desktop as per the YouTube video but when I try run the .exe it sends windows defender crazy.
It suggests there are two 'severe' viruses.

Could someone kindly help with 2 questions;
1) Can they confirm my PC wont melt & all my information is lost/stolen by a virus.
2) If question 1 is confirmed would someone help me figure out how to install SeaBee.

Thanks

I don't know about the maps but Seabee is known to be solid. Windows just doesn't like non-commercial programs making changes to the registry or other Windows locations. I think there is a way in Windows to list programs that you trust so that Windows defender lets them run. You should be able to find that in Windows Help (F1).

Be careful with the map data (as opposed to the artwork) - some scenarios are incompatible with certain maps. Save your stock map artwork and data files to a safe location before installing new maps.

You might actually want to have different installations with the different maps and artwork. If you do a PBEM, you might want to have a separate installation for each PBEM that you have as well, Not to mention a plain Vanilla installation as well.

"My goal is to reach new players and to help remove any technical barriers standing in the way. I would like to help bridge the gap between potential players who have the interest to play and perhaps some knowledge of history, but are for whatever reason not as comfortable getting "under the hood" of computers".

This description fits me to a T and I can't thank you enough for allowing me to play a game I love and have returned to but have had ZERO success getting to run. You have indeed opened the door to assure this great game will continue to be explored for future Adimrals!
I do have one question: I am using SeaBee with sucess but was wondering if I still need to download patches to the game found on the Matrix Games website? For example, the new Update v1127Beta from 2022?

Thank you in advance and job well done sir.

They are still working on the new beta, I would suggest sticking with the 1126a version.

My thanks to all for fixing the install problems with SeaBee. I did get it to install but I now have a new laptop so it needs configuring and have forgotten how to do that, sorry. Any assistance would be appreciate. As of now it does not find the executable and the screen is a mess.

I don't know what version 1127 (the current Beta) does for a shortcut, but 1126a sets a shortcut that does NOT point to game executable, it points to Autorun.exe, which is a menu for game related apps.
If you have downloaded and installed Seabee Alpha it should make a shortcut for you that points to the executable. Then you choose the options you want for the switches. Beware of screen resizing before you get the other switches set - apparently laptops have more difficulty switching screen resolution than desktops. Get the game running normally before playing with the resize and check your 'native resolutions' built into your laptop by RIGHT clicking on your desktop screen with the mouse, choose properties and look at the resolutions it offers.

Here is my game path and switch string from my shortcut :
"C:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition\War in the Pacific Admiral Edition.exe" -altFont -archive -dd_sw -deepColor -px1680 -py1050 -w -fixedArt -skipVideo -multiaudio -SingleCpuOrders -cpu3

Hello All,

When I try to download the SeaBee file it says '404' indicating page not found or not available??

Is there anywhere else I can source this program??

I understand the thread is a few years old hence the download page may have ceased to be but I would like to get my hands on this!!

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
