I first noticed something truly awry when I selected a Rapid Dragon pallet several minutes after my initial launch and realized that it had transcended the concept of altitude entirely:

Over time, the pallets accelerated and set course for the North Pole. They were able to consistently remain there for some time, but began to occasionally fling themselves outwards before making their way back to the pole as they approached 65% of Milky Way escape velocity:

Command has now revealed to me the true culprit behind UFO sightings and fascinating information about the migratory lifecycle of palletized munitions (how could I not be entertained by this bug?), but I suspect this behavior is not what y'all developers intended.
I've attached two saves, one with the C-17 still in the air and refusing to fire and another at the end of the scenario several hours of game time later to illustrate how this behavior progresses over time.
