Quick appreciation post regarding the Campaign Series games

Post by Sunbather »

By now I have bought all Campaign Series games available on the Matrix Store and having a blast with all of them. I also appreciate that (since 2014, I guess) they all have the same hotkeys etc. So I don't have to re-adjust everytime I switch the game. And as a strict singleplayer when it comes to strategy games, I really appreciate the effort you put into the AI, especially regarding the new script engine in Vietnam. Makes the scenarios so much more interesting!

Then I love that there is an actual graphical representation of the night-time, that you have flares, that there is a armour facing feature, that missions aren't just "occupy A and B" and "Destroy as many enemies as possible". I would even say that most of these are unique features for a 2D wargame and the mission variety and its ROEs is actually unique among all other wargames I know of.

And all that praise is coming from someone who desperately wanted a refund for Middle East when he bought it two years ago or so. It was just too strange and clumsy for me. Now I am at a point that I actually appreciate its flow and its elegant design (which only becomes apparent after a couple of dozens of hours and a lot of dabbling in other hex-and-counter games).

So please, for the love of all things holy, keep up the great work. It is really much appreciated!

I guess all I need now is a Campaign Series Cold War game. Any chance we will get our hands on it soon?

Thank you so much!

That's really appreciated. I absolutely love the system. It's simplicity, yet its complexity, especially now with the capabilities of scripting. It makes scenario design far more interesting.

Cold War is being worked on, there's a lot of data to build.

Fully agree. CSVN is one of the best digital wargames I've ever played. Like you said, scenario design is unique and interesting. AI is top notch and the flow of the game just feels right. Can't wait for the DLCs and more Campaign Series content down the road.

I just played a battle in the Middle East game and I got a draw. I have had both games sitting on the hard drive for a while. I have to many games and stopped playing Battlefield 2042, burned out. I am back to playing wargames and maybe get to my board games as well. This is a good game system and I hope it continues with other titles.
