Eastern Front 1941-1945 V.8
Fabio is playing the Axis side and I'm the Soviets this time. This is the extent of the first turn push and I lost a lot of units and my entire air force except for three aircraft units, one a fighter and the other two were bombers.
I did my moves and had only a dozen or so units to move because the entire force is in reorg or rioting or has 0 movement points remaining. This is the first time through the scenario for me and I like it already.
So far so good.

Here's what I can expect in reinforcements in T2:

Here's the shock levels and I miscounted the aircraft units remaining and the weather is going to get worse in the north before it gets worse in the middle and south. So I can't count on any serious mud in the immediate future.

Here's a movie of the advance during T1 and T2 by Fabio. Pretty good so far.

It's hard to make a stand at Pskov because the map doesn't allow you to use the lake as your right flank, making Leningrad that much more vulnerable.
If you're STILL making Panzer IIs after seeing your first T-34... you're probably going to lose.
Re: Eastern Front 1941-1945 V.8
Good luck Larry, Fabio is exploding me with his Soviets in V7. Not the same to play an human...

Here's how the front lines moved as of the end of T4 for the Soviets.

The two hills west of Kiev can be useful to defend the city but it is too late now. Kiev must hold until turn 6 for civil and factory evacuation.

Kiev has been taken (it's late August) and a Panzer Group has crossed the Dnepr in force...sealing the Kiev area with some help coming from Army Group Center. I am encircling less units than historical...but will see if Larry will try to break the 'Kessel'...

It's now T11 round 1 and this is what it looks like near Leningrad right now. It's been like this for several turns now and the Soviets are being slowly pushed backward and the Axis units will soon make a breakthrough and capture the city.

It's still T11 round 1 and this is what it looks like SE of the Pripet Marshes. Fabio has pushed through Kiev and is sweeping east clearing the terrain as he goes. He's unstoppable.

Re: Eastern Front 1941-1945 V.8
It's now T12 round 1 and I just now discovered that there's a lot of stuff that I'm not making any new ones and there's some stuff that I'll soon be making no longer so I need to make some appropriate adjustments of the units that have the affected equipment types. I'm thinking of posting all the I-15's and perhaps the I-16's somewhere safer so that they might survive longer than they might otherwise. Also the TB-3's and SB-2's might ought to be moved as well. I'm going to eventually run out of MiG-3's so I ought to look after them also. I need to study the inventory more to get a gauge of what's coming down the pike.

It's still T12 round 1 and this is the front lines near Moscow at the end of my move.

Fabio has broken through my MLR and there's nothing I can do to prevent him from taking Moscow now.

He told you what not to do...
"4. RED ARMY PLAYER NOTES
First Turns: the opening of the campaign will be brutal and the situation will seem
hopeless (as the opening map on page 1 shows). It is historical..and it gets better. Save
your HQs (and their Support Squads) at all cost to preserve your logistics and split your
Army units stop cover a larger front and avoid encirclements. Two Corps at the front
and one in tactical reserve is a good strategy." Soviet breakwaters in 1941 are really just sandcastles.

You are correct sir. I don't remember reading that although I do remember reading said document. I guess I didn't give it much mojo. I'm going to have to read that document again to see what else I'm missing. Thank you very much for the heads up.

You're still a measurably better player than me in spite of my remembering that point.
