Income questions

Post by Elessar2 »

I'm trying to tease out all of the why's and wherefore's for income (on my WitP map-if you need a copy see the scenario thread in question).

For occupied territories both convoyed or not, long story short is that both the Normalization % and the Occupational Efficiency both work as designed. Occupied China for example shows on the map as giving 88 MPPs if you add up all sources (which ALREADY includes the deduction for the lower supply base of 5).

9 / 28 = .32.

88 x .32 x .80 (80% Occupational Efficiency) = 22, which is exactly what I get once I flip all occupied Chinese territories in the editor and rerun the end of turn.

But.

For Japan's HOME territory I get a hugely different outcome than expected. Now, the biggest difference is that the home territory uses the Industrial Modifier, which is 125% base + 1 level of Industrial Tech, 20%, so 145%, right? This basically replaces the Occupational Efficiency %.

I count 214 Home Island MPPs., before the adjustments.

214 x .32 = 68, 68 x 1.45 = 99.

[There are 11 additional map MPPs for islands and places like Taiwan which have no capital/convoy note]

Problem is the end of turn display doesn't give me 99.

It gives me 136 AFTER all Chinese hexes have been flipped back to Allied. Even adding in the islands doesn't get me anywhere close to 136. Even worse, if I turn Normalization off I don't get 310 MPPs (214 x 1.45), I get a whopping 495.

An explanation would be awesome.

Well, you chose method of testing rather prone to error, which is unfortunate :P I would suggest, instead of trying to manually count all MPPs scattered on Japanese territories, to add like 5x 20MPPs mines on home islands and check the difference, which should be clear value. It is as expected (145), at least for not normalized income. Now, there might be an issue with some roundings on 0.25 values etc. (I do not know, probably not), but still, it is better to check it by adding clear number of stuff on home islands instead of trying to count all pacific islands without mistakes.
