What caliber gun are the PTs using to cause so much damage to that last freighter?

When I get the turn, I will take a look. My guess is they might have a bofors...but I wouldn't get excited as it was a junk...a dababes small junk even 50 caliber would do damage.

Against the AI, I have sunk xAKs using the 50 Calibers on the PT Boats. I think one time that it only took one hit with the fuel cargo burning.

Otherwise, it would depend upon other damage to the ship.

I don't think so, that is the same 80' Elco Boat with that upgrade in the Beta that I am playing.

One PT Boat also put a 37mm ATG on the front of it! It was numbered as PT-109 if I remember correctly. The crews when fighting those steel barges would add whatever additional heavier weapons that they could acquire as long as it would fit and they could find ammo for the weapons.

Historically crews modified their PTs with heavier weapons, but I doubt the hull could take the weight of both a 40MM Bofors (usually mounted aft) and a 37mm A/T gun (usually mounted on the bow. That's a lot of topside weight!

Back from my trip...managed to get in a turn or two...

Miri: got a 4-1 knocking forts down to 3, should fall soon.

Roadblock on Vinh to Hanoi road: One more attack will see a breakthru....tried to game it and have all the armor exploit the attack in pursuit mode but just missed two to one.

IJN sorties out of Java to the northeast...lots of subs attacks but miss any heavy warships.

More later.
