NOOB question

Post by Zyph »

Perhaps one of the most beginner-level queries here, but I'm curious why, upon initiating a scenario, the hostile radar station is tagged, set to remain silent, with no corresponding information in the log. The commercial airliner isn't initially visible, yet is identified through visual observation and contrails as anticipated.

As a new player posting, one thing to know is that posting a save or at least more info is going help people help you. There is no unit info, settings info, etc. A save helps with some of that. For example, if you click on the radar, what does it say?

I initially thought it was a straightforward question with a simple answer. At the beginning of the game, when the red radar is turned off, why is it still visible to the blue side, considering there are only three sides: commercial, blue, and red?

Hi Zyph

As Thewood1 mentioned, always post a savegame with your question, as there can be a million different explanations to a problem.
As to your question, my gut feeling is that the enemy radar site is set to be autodetectable, so you will detect is at scenario start.

It is a fixed site that has been set to autodetectable. You can also set them to be not autodetectable. It's really a preference, maybe a logical scenario design thing, as most militaries know where fixed sites are. Mobile sites are set to not be autodetectable in general. You can turn a unit's auto-detectable setting on and off. If you're talking about the range ring, the broken line marks the range in the database so if it active you have a basic idea of the range and can plan accordingly.
