PBEM: can't see the action as US (only Jap)

Post by mc3744 »

Hello everybody,

I'm playing my first PBEM with UV 2.3 (XP Home up-to-date).
My opponenet has chosen to play the Japs with scenario #19. When I open the files he sends me I'm sent to the start of next turn. I can't see the action phase, I cannot even see the combat report file [:(]
He has just started a new PBEM as the US and now he is experiencing the same problem I have.
I tried a "solo PBEM" and I can see the action as the Japanese, but not as the US!?!?!

Can you help us out. It's very frustrating.

I tried saving the game on different slots (above and below #20), overwriting, keeping new and old, I spent a couple of hours trying every stupid idea that popped in my mind, but nothing

PLEASE HELP

Just a guess - do you have two 'uv001_CombatSave_[date].uvs' files in the 'Save' folder? I sometimes had trouble with loading saved games when two files with the same slot # (but with different turn dates of course) were located there.

I actually had the problem, but solved it by removing the old one (or moving to a new slot number).
Thanks for trying [:)]

when I am playing as the allies, I save the combat save as slot number one ie the save that is already there. That way there is no confusion and only ever one combat save in slot one.

Nope [:(]
I tried slot # 1 (Combat Save) and slot # 2 (the first available) I still don't get to see the action as the US, only as the Japanese.

Anybody who can help? Does it happen to me and my PBEM partner only? [&:]
Has anybody experienced the same problem?

HELP PLEASE

the jap player sends both his turn (saved in slots after slot 1) and the combat save (slot 1). The Allied player saves the combat save as slot one, and the turn into whatever save slot is being used after slot 1.

If you check in My Computer and see in the save file that there are two files in the slot 1, then delete them both and save the new combat save there, then you will be able to see it. There is a glitch where multiple saves can be saved into slot 1 as the computer thinks they are different file names due to unique dates.

I solve this by always saving the combat save as the previous file name in slot 1

I'm sure you realize this, but just in case:

The allied player needs to load slot 001 first and watch the replay. Then load the regular save game to plot your turn. The combat replay doesn't automatically play like it does for the Japanese player.
