Espania 1936

Post by COLB »

Is anyone playing this game? Does anyone have any suggestions on strategy for either the Nationalist or Republican players? I've only played one PBEM game so far but it seems the Nationalists have many advantages. Occasionally there are events which occur in a seemingly random way. Some are political, some are military, but they seem unrelated to the current game situation. I thought I might get some insight into the history of the civil war. But having read one history on the war I see little in the game that relates to the historical record. It just seems like a free for all with the possible exception of controlling Madrid as a key to the game.

My opponent and I have played all the AGEOD games multiple times over the past several years, to adnauseam actually. This one has the most confusing messages and on screen instructions of all. We can usually figure out what the messages translate to but this one has many confusing statements that we're not sure of. Given the few resources available the cards seem expensive and not always reliable. My only other comment is that I understand that these are one week turns, but this seems like the slowest AGEOD game in the whole series of games.
