Amphibs.

Post by tyronec »

I seem to remember that you used to be able to sink an amphib with naval patrol.
If it disappears during your own air phase you will know, however Is it possible to tell if you have sunk it if bombed during the enemy air phase ? Or to tell if you have done any damage ?
The lark, signing its chirping hymn,
Soars high above the clouds;
Meanwhile, the nightingale intones
With sweet, mellifluous sounds.
Enough of Stalin, Freedom for the Ukraine !

Not sure about 100% sinking and/or deliberately/actively targeting them while in a single Hex (I doubt both). You more likely get like ~5-10% damage (like 1k killed and 1k Disabled or so) to a Division from what I have seen. NP Missions don't even have a "space" for kills in the Mission report window.

AFAIK you can hit the Division and cause losses (indirectly), while the Unit is moving through the NP'd Hexes. This happens during enemy Ground Phase and therefore losses are listed as lost during Enemy Ground Phase.

I don't know about whether amphibious stuff (compared to Naval transport) makes a difference, never used amphib, so maybe all I've said is wrong when it comes to amphib mode.

I tested it a few weeks ago, and level 3 or so naval patrol (IIRC I had 39) only did 8% damage. I had previously thought based on some comments I had read earlier that naval patrol might be an ok counter to it, but it is not. So basically you have to house rule out, it is not balanced.
