My first view on Warring Suns

Post by majama »

I have just meet with titans of steel: warring suns. It was my firts pleasure with this version, to this time i used older 1.4 versions (begin years ago). I have few opinions:
1. In game is no more fast weapon and armor info - keys 9 and 0, now i must find number of titans in 1 to 8, and press 3 times right arrow. Older version is better in this point (or i dont find new fast key to see that info - please correct)
2. No colored titans on battlefield - in older version is easy to see who is alied or who is enemy titan, in new it is more difficult
3. 3D view is unpractical, i'm happy because is possible switch to 2D view and all is clear now
4. Icons under the battlefield screen is worse than older version have. New icons are less intuitive for me, but maybe it's question of habit
5. Music is great, but music is not important in strategy :)
6. Is many good options in create battles screen - its very good, but when i trying to create one battle with one my team and three other teams (hot seat - like in older version), battle started with all teams of titans controlled by me (?) and i must switching three teams by press F3

It is all today, maybe more in future.

1. quick armor can be done by clicking your titan display on the bottom left of the screen. to see weapon recycling times, click the right arrow on the pop up window.

2. pressing 0 displays a colour ring beneath the titans the colour of which denotes the team. As for me, the only way I check if a titan is an ally or enemy is making the mouse cursor hover over it. If the cursor turns into a crosshair, that's an enemy.

3. er... you'll get used to it.

4. same thing as #3... you'll get used to it.

5. yeah.

6. In the team selection screen, you can set a squad to be played by computer or human. The order of options is like, load from database, pick titans, random team, clear selection... and on the very bottom, another option appears after you choose a team (custom team or random or picked... doesn't matter). The option that appears on the bottom would be Played by Human/Computer. clicking on it toggles it.

Its easier to click twice on the titan display. 1st click - armor, 2nd click - weapon, 3rd click - close window.

And if you click on the enemy's armor display icon, you'll get your latest best scan of it (access to the scanner database).

It also allows you to check enemies' readiness state; if the crosshairs are green there's a valid target in the hex, if they're red all possible targets are already disabled. The info window displays titans (when multiple) in a hex according to a kind of threat assessment rule.
