Interesting - and people wonder why the US Military needs such a huge budget.

I wonder if that "Air Administration Building" is the same one being attacked by the marines in the TV Movie "The Pacific". It would be an ideal prop - disused, on an uninhabited island and with no trees to spoil the wide field shots.

Hey, that's cool. Makes perfect sense.

My father was stationed on Tinian for a short stint in 1945 I believe. I never thought to ask him before he passed why he was there, as his normal duty was an AO2 (aviation ordinance) with VBF-16 on the Randolph. Probably some kind of detached duty, the Navy loves TAD or Temporary Assigned Duty- I should know as I did enough of it during my four years.

If I can remember to dig it up, he made a rough sketch from a Tinian beach of ships offshore on a postcard.
