Failed To Perform Auto Save Message

Post by DWReese »

I keep getting random messages in the form of a balloon pop up that the game was unable to perform an auto save. You can continue to play the game, but the message continues to pop up every minute.

The game appears to play normally, with regard to the movement of units, etc., but for whatever the reason, after the message pops up the first time, units on combat ground attack missions no longer want to fire. They fly over the target and then continue on their path and return home.

It appears to be a random thing.

Has anyone seen this message. If so, is there any idea/thought as to why it is popping up? Or. what to do to stop it?

This used to happen when Command was not run with admin rights

Sometimes it's caused by memory leaks.
It used to happen to me a lot before CMO was updated to 64 bits.

Can I ask how you know that? I used to get it frequently, but when I switched to Steam and admin permissions, it went away. There were also a couple updates that addressed it.

I used to have a bad habit to keep countless tabs open, so memory leaks were pretty common lol.
I could tell when they were happening because they would massively slowdown my entire PC and it would also cause CMO to display the fail to preform auto save message afterwards.

Having a lot of dialogs open is not necessarily causing a memory leak. But having a lot of pages open will slow down any system. So you are guessing? Did you check RAM usage? A memory leak is going show itself as a continuous increase in RAM usage despite what is actually happening in-game.
